WRITING DOWN GOOD REASONS TO FREEZE TO DEATH IN MY SPIRAL NOTEBOOK is a project served as an exploration of common themes in the writer’s / the authers artistic practice. Escapism, isolation, solitude and melancholy are incredibly important in van der Meulen’s  work. These themes have always been important in Nik’s work, throughout life. In this short graphic novel, van der Meulen delves deep into the memories of feeling safe and inspired in the cold. This book takes you to some pivotal moments of childhood that have influenced van der Meulens art.
