FAUNAL THOUGHTS ON THE CARNIVALESQUE / FAUN
Faun is a community and worldbuilding project with its feet in two realms: the virtual, as an online publication and forum; and the physical, as a series of publications, objects, and events. Faun deploys writing, discussion, debate, and new media as ways to open up our discourse into new realms and directions.
Faun is a series of publications interrogating the ideas of cosmologies and worlds. Cosmologies here being defined as the set of culturally bound ideas that imbue materialities with meanings, and as such shape our perceptions of what the world is. Faun's intention is to propose ways to undermine hegemonic cosmological structures and proliferate the coexistence of a multiplicity of worlds. 'Faunal Thoughts on the Carnivalesque' explores the grotesque and humoristic elements of carnival as means of dissolving dominant cosmologies and opening possibilities for alternatives.
